This chocolate chip cookie recipe was my moms, and I adjusted it. It used to have shortening in it. I decided to double up on the butter and remove the shortening since my family is eliminated seed oils wherever possible.

We do what we can right, seed oils are literally in almost everything. So I’m not a crazy person about it, but where I can substitute for something else, I will do it.

Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies – Ingredients

You will need your typical cookie ingredients. Eggs, flour, salt, sugar, baking soda, butter, salt and vanilla. In addition, you will need chocolate chips and your M&Ms. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I opted to get the festive Valentine’s M&Ms to make these cookies cute and fun. My daughters love it. Chocolate chip M&M cookies are so easy to make festive.

Something I would HIGHLY recommend, and that has CHANGED my baking game for the better, is to save some of your mix-ins and add them on the top after you scoop out your cookies.

Yes, the cookies still have chocolate chips and M&Ms in them even if you can’t see it from the top – but you WANT to see them from the top. It makes your cookies look better, and when they look better they taste better right? They do, its SCIENCE.

Trust me, just look at your little cookie balls on the sheet and take some of your M&Ms, chocolate chips, whatever you are mixing in and add a few to the top of each cookie. They look so much better and taste better, PROMISE.

Those are some cute and happy cookies right there. Notice how they don’t have two of the same color on the top? Yes, that is because I am slightly crazy, a little OCD and because I hand placed those M&Ms on the top. I even added a few chocolate chunks to some of them.

Those cookies look like they want to be eaten. It makes all your cookies look like an amazing cookie. I know when I am looking to eat a cookie, I am judging the cookie by its top so to speak, and I am picking the one with the most yummies on top.

You can save some to add to the top of the cookies after you drop them so they all look cute.
These cookies taste amazing frozen.  You can freeze some for later, but my family tends to eat them all out of the freezer as well.  Maybe its the Vegas heat but frozen chocolate chip cookies taste amazing.
Nutritonal Facts are an estimate, calories will vary based on ingredients you use and the size of your cookie.

I hope you love the cookie receipe. If you are in a pumpkin mood be sure to try my other cookie recipe, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. You can swap out the mix-ins and try different variations. Or just do chocolate chips. I will leave you with one last peace of advice. Add the mix-ins with your heart, don’t measure them. Get your costco size bag and just keep dumping until you see enough in your cookies.
