Year In Review: Mom Edition

Tags:

The end of the year is the time for your Spotify and Apple Music Reviews. A lot of other companies have gotten on board with your year in review with their companies – but I wanted to do one for moms. So here is a year in review: mom edition.

Disclaimer: This is a satire-type post, I do not keep track of the number of times these things happened, however, this is an educated-guess at the amount of times I have done these things. I hope you get a kick out of it and enjoy the post for what it is. Love you all fellow moms, and may each year get better. Cheers!

You Heard The Word Mom 359,274 Times

This number seems astronomically high, however it is probably still not enough. I would also argue that 20% of those “Moms” were poorly received. As much as I love being a mom, and do not for ONE SECOND not love my kids, sometimes that MOM is BUGGING.

You Snuggled For 167,324 Minutes

Snuggling is one of my favorite things to do with my daughters. Whether it is to comfort them, watching a movie at the end of the day, or snuggling at bedtime, or throughout the night. It’s the best. My youngest goes to sleep in her bed, but around 10 or 11 pm she wakes up (sometimes scared) and runs to our bed and gets in. Sometimes she just likes to be in bed with us, and sometimes she has to be snuggled up next to me to sleep, and I love it.

You Made 208 Delicious Healthy Dinners For Your Family

This number really should be 365, but I am not there yet. This is definitely higher than last year. I have been working on being that #tradwife and having a yummy dinner ready when my husband gets home from work, but we travel a lot. We LOVE going out to eat, and some days I just can’t. So 208 meals is a win for me – and hopefully next year, that number will be higher. If you need a quick and easy healthy dinner, check out my blog post here for ground beef taco meat base.

You Read 467 Books to Your Daughters This Year

This number is another win, but also not enough. I used to read WAY more books to my oldest, and I have GUILT about not reading enough to my youngest. She does LOVE to listen to the books when I read to her, and she will actually sit still which is a HUGE improvement. But this is another goal of mine, to read more to her and keep reading to her older sister as well.

You Listened to Babyshark 467,932 Times

We are going on year 5 of Babyshark topping my Apple Music Replay charts. I even made a conscious effort to listen to more of my music in the car, you know – introduce the kids to the classics so they are a well-rounded individual. But it is STILL #1. I am afraid that Babyshark will be in my year in review: mom edition for a few more years. Followed by Penguin Dance & then Bye, Bye, Bye thanks to my oldest’s obsession with Deadpool-Wolverine.

Your Family Ate a Combined 216 Pounds of Berries This Year

Whew. This one definitely is pretty accurate. I would say that our berry budget was probably $2,000 this year, but maybe even more. Organic is getting so expensive. But I am never prouder and more happy then when my daughters eat all those berries instead of junk food. A win is a win.

You Played Outside for 279 Hours

This number hurts; but I am getting better. I am a recovering control-freak helicopter-mom. I had PPD after my first and kinda struggled with letting my kids live their life – God forbid I take them to a park. But I have been making a conscious effort to be outside in the sun, get that vitamin D and let them play and get dirty and get hurt. So another goal for next year to let them play outside. I don’t know why I haven’t been doing this, maybe my youngest just wasn’t old enough – but now she will skoot all over the street and she loves it.

You Changed 1,785 Diapers This Year

Changing diapers is going to be in a year in review: mom edition for a big chunk of our lives. Fingers crossed, this is my last year changing diapers. We have been working on the potty training. I don’t know if I’m fighting it subconsciously because she’s my last baby or if she is just not ready. But good job mamas for wiping all those butts!

End of Year Review Mom Edition

You Are Amazing Mama!

If you haven’t heard it today or enough – you are amazing, mama. You are doing a great job; your kids are lucky to have you. You deserve the world – get your nails done, get that massage, buy yourself a new outfit.

Let me know if your year in review is similar or different to mine in the comments. What did I miss?
